We the People of the United States: From the Colonies to Ellis Island to Tomorrow(ZOOM ONLY)

Join us as we learn about United States immigration history, the role of Ellis Island, and recent developments in this fraught field.

Jeffrey Heller’s main professional interest is asylum law. He is a uniformed National Park Service volunteer at the National Museum of Immigration on Ellis Island, where he shares information, introduces movies, and gives guided tours.

Ha Matmid (ZOOM only)

We study a broad range of topics, which have included the structure and prayers of services, the Jewish holiday cycle, and how a Torah scroll is created. We've held workshops to help people get more out of the High Holy Days. Some people have studied with us for years; others drop in when they can. Next we'll look at... what? Tell us what you've always wanted to know more about!  All are invited to join the discussion.  Led by Susan Schorr.

Shabbat Shuva Lay-Led Kabbalat Shabbat Service

Kabbalat Shabbat (Summer Schedule)

Led by Rabbi Emily and/or Cantor Melissa, our services offer a grounding, uplifting, and prayerful way to celebrate Shabbat. Our services always invite active participation from our congregation, and include both traditional as well as “reconstructed” interpretations of prayer, song, and Torah.

This service is both in person and on Zoom. (For Zoom link, please check your e-newsletter or admin [at] westendsynagogue.org (contact Joan).)
