Legendary double-bassist, and WES congregant, Leon (Boots) Maleson will discuss "Jewish Influences on Jazz."

For over 30 years, Boots (Leon) Maleson has been one of the top in-demand bassists in New York City in nearly every genre of music. He has worked with such jazz greats as Milt Jackson, Elvin Jones, Jaki Byard, Archie Shepp, Kenny Barron, Dexter Gordon, Stanley Cowell, Jack Wilson and Benny Carter. He has played in the Big Bands of Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Alexander, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. He has performed for many years with jazz artists Ronny Whyte, Daryl Sherman and Marlene Verplanck.
