Congregant carrying TorahMonday October 17th at 6:30pm

Come to dance, to sing, to celebrate, and to appreciate our sacred texts. This event will be hybrid and we ask our Torah readers to be present in person.

Simchat Torah marks the point in the year when we reach the end of our yearly reading of the Torah and begin the cycle anew. Our Shemini Atzeret service is held in the morning, with our Simchat Torah service in the evening. Traditionally, WES congregants have come together to dance with the Torahs and unfurl one of the scrolls as we read the end of Devarim (Deuteronomy), followed by the beginning of Bereshit (Genesis).

Earlier the same day at 10:00AM we will hold Zoom services for Shemini Atzeret, including Yizkor, at our normal main services link.

To attend in person, please join us at 190 Amsterdam Avenue (at W. 69th Street).  (Our elevator is still under construction, so stairs are required.)

Please note: currently all in-person guests must be masked and provide proof of full COVID vaccination, including a booster.

If you'd like to attend via Zoom, this event will be at our main services link. (If you'd like the link, admin [at] westendsynagogue.org (please contact us for instructions) on how to access our services on Zoom.)
