SELECTED JEWISH SHORT STORIES from NORTH AFRICA

Join us at WES for a night of thought-provoking Jewish short stories, read aloud by WES congregants, and followed by discussion.

Our stories concern racism, nostalgia and loss. How do we deal with differences in religious observance and social status? How do we manage when we are torn from the only home we’ve ever known? How do the people we’ve left behind remember us?

We will be reading three stories:

  • “Home,” by Zeeva Bukai, read by Alice Alexiou
  • “The Fire Keeper,” by Gabriel Bensimhon, read by Wilfredo Aponte
  • “Black,” by Avner Mandelman, read by Jerry Posman

Light refreshments.

This event will also be live-streamed.  For the link, please see your e-newsletter or contact admin [at] westendsynagogue.org (Joan).

Selected Jewish Short Stories is a series of curated readings of short stories coordinated by Dan Van Doren, and read by members of West End Synagogue, in English.
