When we think about gender and Judaism, we often think about women: their changing gender roles over time, their place in Jewish religious practice and leadership, and their public roles in the broader society. But Jewish men have gender too.

This discussion will offer glimpses into historical American Jewish masculinities as well as tackle some of the pressing questions about Jewish masculinity today.  What images and assumptions about masculinity do we have today?  Are those different in Jewish communities versus non-Jewish communities?  What kind of American Jewish masculinity do we want to work toward?
