Prof. Elissa Bemporad of Queens College and the CUNY Graduate Center will discuss how Judaism survived in the Soviet Union. She will describe the Jewish experience at a time when the teaching of all religions was banned to anyone under 18, and what happened to religious practices, cemeteries, religious buildings and more.
