Professor Mel Scult will be giving a short talk about the way the Book of Ruth has been considered from ancient times to the present. Ruth was widely used as a metaphor for all different kinds of situations, from the matter of conversion to the rabbis, to the image of Ruth and Naomi as a same-sex romantic relationship in modern Hebrew literature.
