Executive Director, Lila Pahl
Lila joined the West End Synagogue staff as Executive Director in July 2003.
A Jewish communal professional for more than twenty years, Lila brings to her position a career in synagogue management that focuses on membership development, family learning, events planning, communication and fundraising.
Since joining the staff at West End Synagogue, Lila has received a Legacy Heritage grant for study at the Fuchsberg Center in Jerusalem, developed an ongoing, annual, successful fundraiser and served as editor of the monthly newsletter. She is currently involved in all facets of enewsletter, website and social media development for the synagogue.
Previously, Lila served at Temple Israel of Great Neck and North Shore Jewish Center in Port Jefferson, NY.
During that time, she participated in a year-long UJA Strategic Planning program, facilitated the development of a series of child/parent learning groups, acted as the synagogue liaison to the local JCC in innovative joint programming for both seniors and teens, distributed press communications and managed the day-to-day details of major capital campaigns.
Lila holds a Master’s degree from Brooklyn College and is a graduate of the Workman’s Circle Mittleshul.
She is a member of the North American Association of Synagogue Executives and the
Metropolitan Association for Synagogue Executives where she serves on the Advisory Council.

Administrative Assistant, Joan Erber
Joan joined the WES staff in the position of Administrative Assistant in April, 2017. Her prior professional background was in the financial world for 35 years. In the course of the last 25 years, Joan has helped to initiate and administer a number of charitable enterprises on behalf of several communal organizations. Joan and her husband live on the Upper West Side.
Bookkeeper, Moshe Duban
Moshe joined the WES staff as Bookkeeper in January 2017. He is an accounting graduate from Touro College NYSCAS and has several years of bookkeeping experience with focus in synagogue financial services.
