As we move into May, we enter Iyar with its opportunities both to celebrate and to mourn. Our first Shabbat of the month will be a First Friday Intergenerational Service, followed by Celebrate Israel the next morning in honor of Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha'Atzma'ut. The following week we will celebrate as Ezra Pactor becomes a Bar Mitzvah and we return to Saturday morning services in our own sanctuary! While construction continues, we will be BaMidbar— in the wilderness— as we appreciate the use of our space even while anticipating its full potential.

Susan Schorr will explore “Voice of a Woman.” The voices of women were not silenced throughout Jewish history. They were shunted aside and ignored, but women still spoke and wrote. Join Susan Schorr in an exploration of centuries of prayers written by Jewish women. How did they treat the same subjects as male writers? What topics did they address that were ignored by men? What did a siddur written for use only by women look like?
