TORAH STUDY OF ISAIAH: CHAPTER 58 [particularly verses 3-8]
Facilitated by our rabbinic intern Donna Cephas
In preparing for this Yom Kippur, I have been reflecting on some words from the unataneh tokef prayer and what might be a connection between the tzom and tshuvah. What is tschuvah calling us to do internally and perhaps as a community and how might this connect with fasting?
We will study Isaiah, Chapter 58 to glean some answers to this two-part question. Perhaps Isaiah may help us understand a notion of fasting as a means towards change in society.
