The Search for Truth and the Challenge of Certain

Philosophers suggest that the recognition of truth must always be accompanied by an ongoing challenge to that truth--an awareness that what we think is truth may not be right, or not totally right.  When you think about Truth, do you connect it to God (however you define that word)?  Are you certain of your truth?  How actively do you challenge your Truth, i.e., question and confront it?  Why is it often so hard to listen with an open heart and an open mind to someone whose truth is different from our own?

For the past 20 years, HaMinyan at WES End has been a lay-led Friday night service when there is a fifth Friday in the month.  It historically  began at 8 pm.  Beginning this month, on August 30, the service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be preceded at 6 p.m. by HaNosh,  light snacks with beverages.

This week's theme will explore issues raised by the Tisha B'Av service on Sat Aug 10.
