Our Staff

Executive Director, Lila Pahl

Lila Pahl joined the West End Synagogue staff as Executive Director in July 2003.

A Jewish communal professional for eighteen years, Lila brings to her position a career in synagogue management that focuses on membership development, family learning, events planning, communication and fundraising.

Since joining the staff at West End Synagogue, Lila has received a Legacy Heritage grant for study at the Fuchsberg Center in Jerusalem, developed a successful fundraiser and served as editor of the monthly newsletter. She is currently involved in all facets of website and social media development for the synagogue.

Previously, Lila served at Temple Israel of Great Neck and North Shore Jewish Center in Port Jefferson, NY.
During that time, she participated in a year-long UJA Strategic Planning program, facilitated the development of a series of child/parent learning groups, acted as the synagogue liaison to the local YMHA in innovative joint programming for both seniors and teens, distributed press communications and managed the day-to-day details of major capital campaigns.

Lila holds a Master’s degree from Brooklyn College and is a graduate of the Workman’s Circle Mittleshul.
She is a member of the North American Association of Synagogue Executives and the
Metropolitan Association for Synagogue Executives where she serves on the Advisory Council.

Katherine Cleary, Administrative Assistant 

Katherine Cleary has been West End Synagogue’s Administrative Assistant since February 2010.
She has administrative experience at both corporate and retail levels and is an integral member of the office
team.
